First Weekend Easton - LIVE!
The first full Friday, Saturday, & Sunday of each month!
An extension of the extremely successful First Friday event that helped spur the vibrant Arts In Easton movement and helped Easton's downtown strengthen during economically challenging periods for traditional commerical districts. Now First Weekend is a chance to catch up with neighbors and friends or meet new ones while taking in the small town charm that is Easton.
Join us for the next First Weekend Easton - LIVE! by participating in the Friday evening Gallery Walk, enjoying special events such as our Downtown Summer Concert Series or Cinema by Starlight, Olde Tyme Christmas weekend, or to casually stroll through the many unique and independantly-owned retail shops or restaurants.
Easton is home to a vibrant visual arts, music/performance, and cultural scene!
Here's how...
Arts! With over eleven galleries or artist studios located in the historic downtown district you'll be inspired to "have-a-go" even if its only to decorate your own plate or mug (we have a place for that too!). Even some of the local shops have joined in by displaying local artist's work with their merchandise in store windows!
Music & Performing Arts! If you haven't visited Easton for a while - have another look! Local, regional, & national musical/performance acts can be found at the Avalon Theatre or The NightCat. Charlie Mars, The Whailers, Dar Williams, and Chester River Runoff only name a few of the acts that pass through downtown Easton. The Chesapeake Film Festival recently enjoyed their third annual event in 2010 showing films at the Avalon Theatre, Easton Premier Cinema, Academy Art Museum, and others.
Cultural Heritage! Our cultural cornerstones include The Waterfowl Festival which celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2010, Plein Air Festival & Competition, The Avalon Theatre, The Academy Art Museum, & the Historical Society of Talbot County. Easton also boasts a dynamic inventory of historic structures downtown that provide the Town with a unique small town charm cherished by its residents and visitors alike.
